Custom-made paint box with individual brooches made from recycled steel "tin" cans. The pins are constructed from multiple layers of tin cans. Each letter is cut from a different can.
Originally, I made this series of paint boxes with pins as a commentary about conferences which seem to have a lot of "talk" like Words Like Winter Snowflakes.
This series of work is available for purchase or exhibition. Please inquire with the artist.
Below you can see the top of the Paintbox. This is a photograph of the top.
Below you can see the inside of the paint box with the pins removed. Look inside the slots to see the "fine print" lettering. The pin stems on the back of each brooch fit into these slots so the pins lay flat inside the paint box display.
This box, including the pins, is available for purchase or exhibition.
Below you can see the pins removed from the paint box display. Each word is a separate brooch which can be worn alone or with multiple words at the same time. “Words” brooch is 1 7/16" x 2 5/8" wide. This group of pins is an example of the first time I made lettering badges. The rivets are much larger than what I do now.
All future pieces in the series will be considerably more because these were the tests for the series.
In the image below you can see the bottom of the paintbox. This is a scan of the bottom. You can see openings in the bottom of the box which reveals the construction.
