Trapped by The Seduction of Domestic Perfection has an autobiographical and universal message. Homes demand time, attention, and consistent upkeep. Often the responsibilities of home fall on women, and the efforts of women go without recognition and appreciation by family and society at large. There exists the idea that domestic life is blissful and comfortable, because it is often shown and appears that way, but this understanding and appearance does not acknowledge the tiring work and effort exerted by wives, mothers, caretakers, and women.
