Living in a Vacuum appliance sculpture by Harriete Estel Berman

Living in a Vacuum is constructed from copper and brass with either paint or nickel-plated finish by Harriete Estel Berman.

Carefully constructed using sheet metal, these appliances are not found objects.
Red acetate visible through pierced metal trim.

The end of the vacuum opens to reveal a solitary chair sitting alone. Interior details of vacuum are painted walls, switch for light bulb, etched copper floor and chair.
