East Wing Destroyed ( a bracelet of political commentary) is making very slow progress. Today the goal is to connect the corners. Progress on the inside wrist is simultaneously progressing......very slowly. This has been very labor intensive effort requiring great care. Eventually it will be damaged, and destroyed. The smashed bracelet will be worn only after it is damaged.
This page is under development. I will be adding images for the East Wing Demolished Bracelet. in the meantime, I recommend that you look at my Instagram that has a number of short videos with music about the fabrication.
Trump has been closely involved in the design of the ballroom, which departs in notable ways from the vision that the White House’s original architect, James Hoban, had for the building.
The White House is often called The People’s House. The simplicity of the architecture and design by James Hoban was to reflect the concept of democracy. This was not supposed to be a palace for royalty. The architect did not include gold gilt on the outside. The White House is also relatively small and simple for the most powerful country in the world.
On Instagram I show the addition of the top layer, and how this slides together.
This video on Instagram shows the attachment of the top of the bracelet.
This studio action reel shows the fabrication process behind pressing tin cans to represent the herringbone brick pattern that once covered the floor of the East Wing corridor at the White House.
In this video on Instagram, I am making sure that it slides up.
Figuring out a simple method to fabricate the herringbone brick pattern took a lot of trial and error: first proving it would work with many test efforts, then pressing a full sheet for the interior base of the East Wing Demolished Bracelet. Click on this link to watch a video on Instagram about the fabrication of the floor texture.

Finally, we have figured out how to create the herringbone brick pattern that was originally in the East Wing corridor.
This detailed pattern will be visible through the windows of this bracelet. In addition, the words "We the People" will be visible by looking through the windows of the bracelet..
The lettering was cut from the perfect tin material that has a kind of inky irregular pattern in shades of gray, emulating writing by a feather quill pen.
Details are everything in my work and align with thinking about my use of recycled materials to create this political protest in jewelry.
Fabrication is from recycled tin cans.

One more object in the Fool's Gold Gilt Collection. The East Wing of the White House has been demolished. Not for repair or restoration but for a mirrored ballroom of chandeliers and gold gilt ceilings that was supposed to be paid by his donors. Now it is revealed that will be paid by Congress with taxpayers dollars. He has torn down columns of history, symbols of freedom and democracy. The People's House is being destroyed.
These windows are the scaled down version of the original windows in the East Wing corridor. The are a symbolising a structure of public service that has been destroyed by ego, vanity, and narcissism.
When this bracelet is finished, I plan to record its destruction.
It will be worn as a smashed and damaged object.Trump has been closely involved in the design of the ballroom, which departs in notable ways from the vision that the White House’s original architect, James Hoban, had for the building.
Hoban strove for simplicity in an effort to convey that the White House would be the “People’s House” and not the home of royalty. He did not include gold on the outside of the mansion, a tradition continued when the White House’s East and West Wings were later built.
But Trump has picked a more ornate style of columns for the White House ballroom. Its planned gilded interior also resembles a ballroom that he renovated at his Mar-a-Lago resort and that Trump has said was inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France.
Trump has also added golden adornments to the White House, particularly in the Oval Office, and has approved new embellishments, such as building a 100-foot-wide helipad that would be ringed with the presidential seal.
